Blogging

Just a few quick notes on blogging: you want to ask thoughtful questions, not Yes and No questions and not questions with a simple answer.

Similarly, your responses should be thoughtful and developed, at least, 3 sentences long.

Finally, many of you are writing about emotion. Try to be specific and detailed so that we can appreciate the distinctions that the author's are making in the essay.

Office Hours

Just a reminder: I am in room E232 from 12:20-12:50 on Tuesdays. If you have questions, concerns, need help, etc., please feel free to drop in.

Your Brain at Work

Post your questions and responses here for 3/19 and 3/24. Please post one question per post so that when people reply, they are replying to only one question.  To do this, click on the highlighted title of this post "Your Brain at Work", scroll down to the post box and type in your first question and hit "publish". Then do the second question and hit post, etc. Please have at least three questions posted by 3/19. You can get extra credit for response to questions but not for extra questions.

Questions should lead to discussion among your peers.

Response should be at least 3 complex sentences if not longer.

Sentence Counter Argument

Just a reminder that the sentence counterargument exercise that we started in class is available on the blog (to the right). You do not need to write down the sentences on the assignment sheet, but just indicate by a, b, c, etc. which one you are working with. Any questions? Email me.

Glad to see people responding to questions

Responses to questions look good. Keep it up. Try to explain why you think a certain way and give examples if you can. Remember, responses should be several sentences in length.

Blogging for Thursday

So far, the blogging looks great. Keep it up.  Before Thursday's class, please be sure to answer 3 of your fellow students questions fully. You can get extra credit too. For every well thought out response over the assigned three responses, you can get extra credit (3 possible points per response, up to 9 points).

Confused? Forget how to post? Please be sure to email me.

MLA Citation

Any works you cite in your writing should be cited using MLA citation style.

The best source for how to do this is the Purdue Owl, accessible at https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl

Using vocab words

You should have an ever growing list of vocabulary words on your cards now. Please make sure you are using at least three words in your homework (and highlighting those words in green highlighter). In the digital culture summary, vocab words are extra credit. You may earn 25 points of extra credit through using these words in DCS (3 per assignment).

Please use each word only once in an assignment (particularly words like "idea" and "reading").

Office hours

Office hours will be from 12:20-12:40 on Tuesday in room 232. Please make a note of this and feel free to come see if you have questions about your homework, want to discuss class work with me or have any confusion related to class.
